Chair Michael Haxton conferred with the Committee regarding all questions to be asked of Superintendent Russell Holden regarding our research and work.
The committee discussed the timeline of sharing a final report and what the presentation options could be. The Committee reiterated that is advisory with the best collective wisdom, considering all moving parts (eg: COVID). There was sentiment that October was too soon to present a final report. Discussion ensued surrounding presentation of more than one idea since a single, unanimous idea was not likely nor ideal. We feel a concensus would not be likely.
Melissa clarified the objection of each company (Banwell and EEI) and their focus.
Kevin clarified that we should be thinking about what appeals to the Voters (and not the term “taxpayers” who are not necessarily voters.)
Tanner would like to have a representative outside of EEI provide an estimate of work to be done-with a focus on the priority of safety concerns.
Anna presented a new idea based on the work of Subcommittee 2/3: to seek potential partnership with Grantham Village School given she discovered that the contract with Lebanon for Grades 7-12 was expiring. Statistics and numbers of students as well as per-pupil spending was reviewed and the group felt this was an avenue worth researching further.
The meeting ended just after 6:30 pm.
The next meeting was set for Wednesday, September 23 at 5pm. Private Zoom link will be sent by email to Committee Members.
Respectfully submitted,
Anna Miner
